College of Urgent Care Medicine

Updates from the College of Urgent Care Medicine

The College of Urgent Care Medicine (CUCM) is committed to inspiring excellence advancing the specialty of urgent care medicine. The Board and CUCM committees continue to pursue that vision. As a reminder, physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners benefiting from either an individual or organizational membership are automatically enrolled in the College. The College now represents over 2400 urgent care clinicians.  If unsure if you are signed up under your organizational membership, please reach out to

Recent College activities and updates include the following:

  • Becoming a Fellow in the College or Urgent Care Medicine (FCUCM) has just become easier: The application process has been simplified and the point system eliminated.  Physicians, NPs and PA-Cs are eligible to apply.  The website has been updated with the revised criteria for physicians and advanced practice providers.  College members can apply here.

  • Urgent Updates: A new member benefit now includes access to Urgent Updates (U²).  Updates of industry relevant publications will be available no less than twice a month.  A brief synopsis is provided with the source link if the member would like additional information.  This week’s updates will address the risks and benefits of benzodiazepines, public health recommendations for those who have received the COVID vaccine and information about a CDC Hear Her campaign designed to enhance communication between pregnant and postpartum women, their support systems, and their healthcare providers.

  • Best Practices: The College has elected to post industry relevant Best Practices.  The first of the best practices addresses the updated CDC guidelines for the treatment of gonococcal infections.  The best practices will first be published in Urgent Caring (a member benefit) and subsequently available on the website. Best Practices will be published 10-12X/ year.

  • Call for Committee Members:  CUCM is seeking clinicians interested in serving on the Urgent Updates and Best Practices Committees.  If interested in contributing to these important initiatives, contact Tracey Davidoff, MD, FCUCM for participation in producing Clinical Best Practices or Cesar Mora Jaramillo, MD if interested in providing Urgent Updates to our members.  We’d like to thank Drs. Davidoff and Jaramillo for agreeing the chair and lead the development of these resources.

  • Listserv access limited to members only:  The College provides oversight to both the general CUCM Listserv as well as the COVID specific Listserv.  Recognizing that our country was in the midst of a pandemic, the COVID specific Listserv was open to all. Effective 3/31/2021, accessing the Listservs will resume being a member-only benefit.  If you are not a member and wish to continue communicating with your colleagues and receiving important updates, reach out to
