How to be a Unicorn ~ Becoming the Employer of Choice for the Employees of Choice: Thursday, October 17 at 1:00PM CST

Approximately 1/3 of employees will quit within the first 6 months of employment causing the cost of on boarding and training to be quite high. Being a Unicorn employer is not only about being honest and open from day one but about how to create and maintain an environment that people want to work in. In the health care sector there are so many options that we must be competitive. Urgent care is a low margin business which creates a need to know how to show off our attributes while maintaining a cost effective base. This course will help create a new mindset and expand your current thinking by giving you a solid foundation of values from interviewing to identifying when to help someone move on. Sometimes it can seem as though everything we try is fruitless but it is possible to be an employer that’s sought after and that could be you and your organization!

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate and identify strategies that create a strong foundational relationship between employee and employer starting with identifying employees of choice.
  • Obtain the capacity for measuring their own benefits options (fully loaded) and learn the worth of perks programs and the power of incentives.
  • Identify when a culture change is needed and how to initiate cultural values.
  • Gain an understanding of what makes a culture “good” and how to apply different methods of celebrating this.
  • Incorporate methods of training and company orientation offerings.
  • Integrate knowledge to analyze, evaluate and manage the different methods of team building.
  • Attain a new understanding of the internal operations of their clinics.

Presenter Information: Sarah McLain

Sarah McLain is the Senior Market Leader of the Southern Territory for CareWell Urgent Care, based in Boston. She began her career in healthcare in 2005 as a medical receptionist and became an American Association of Medical Assistants certified medical assistant in 2010. She then worked in primary care, neurology, endocrinology and rheumatology but always had a passion for leadership and emergency medicine.

Sarah joined CareWell in the fall of 2015. She started as a Practice Manager at CareWell’s South Dennis location and quickly proceeded to make an immediate impact at the area’s busiest urgent care center during the summer months, when patient volume triples. Sarah demonstrated exceptional management and cost control at the South Dennis location and was promoted to Market Leader, where, she oversaw four centers and developed strategic growth plans for the southern region. In December of 2018, Sarah was promoted to Senior Market Leader. As Senior Market Leader of the Southern Territory, she directly assists the medical director and occupational medicine department in policy and procedure creation and execution. She also supervises operations and handles vendor contracts and negotiations for all 17 locations, while personally managing operations for eight of Carewell’s branches. Carewell now operates 17 centers making them the largest single operator of urgent care centers in New England.

Sarah is currently working towards her MBA and enjoying being mom to her 16-month-old daughter.

CUCMP Credit Information:

This webinar is required as part of the CUCMP program and fulfills the Human Resources domain while providing learners the opportunity to earn 1 live CUCMP credit (attendance will be verified). The CUCMP program requires that 37 of the 60 credits be live credits. Live credits may be earned through attending webinars and CUCMP sessions at UCA’s annual spring convention and expo. Once verified you will have access to the CUCMP quiz to complete the credit and survey. In order to earn credit, the CUCMP quiz must be passed and the survey completed. You must earn a score of 80% on the quiz and will be given 3 attempts to do so.
