Antibiotic Stewardship Committee
The Urgent Care Association in collaboration with the College of Urgent Care Medicine (CUCM) is pleased to announce that Jonathan Zipkin, MD, has agreed to Chair the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee. We’d like to thank Joe Toscano, MD, who launched this effort following a convening of stakeholders in Houston, TX where an Industry Action Plan was developed in the Fall of 2018.
Dr. J.D. Zipkin is the National Chair of Clinical Quality, and Associate Medical Director for Northwell Health – GoHealth Urgent Care, directly overseeing their New York City based urgent care centers. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He has a passion for systems analysis, clinical excellence, and antibiotic stewardship.
Academically, Dr. Zipkin has a computer science background. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, completed a combined residency program at Penn State Health, and served as Chief Resident Physician. He is independently board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Zipkin has been inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, with a distinguished Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Zipkin is a speaker and mentor with Master Clinicians, and is the most recent recipient of the UCA Quality and Safety Award.
