UCAOA's new Urgent Care Management Certificate (UCMC) program is designed to improve and recognize your proficiency in the core competencies of Center Management. Completing the UCMC Program will help provide the confidence to lead your Urgent Care Center to the next level of excellence. Because of the emphasis on practical knowledge, the UCMC Program is first, an educational program, and second, a certificate program.

Earning your UCMC is simple!
UCMC is earned by attending qualifying UCAOA Conferences, Webinars and Online Education Sessions. Qualifying courses will have the UCMC symbol besides them on Conference bochures and educational listings.
Get Started!
1. Download and complete the online application.
2. Already completed some course work? Attach the UCAOA Course Completion Worksheet. List any previous course work (from the past 21 months) you would like to apply. It is not necessary to have completed any courses before applying.
3. Send the UCMC Application , worksheet (if applicable) and the registation fee $150 UCAOA Members; $250 Non-members.

4. You will receive an enrollment confirmation from UCAOA which will include instructions on taking the exams for previous course work. You are on your way to earning yout UCMC!
Learn
Earn the 40 required hours in the core competency areas by attending UCAOA Conferences, completing sessions from the UCAOA's Online Education Library (a list of UCMC Courses are on the site) and participating in live UCAOA Practice Management webinars.
Here is the breakdown of course hours and suggested types of courses:
Operations - 10 hours; includes items such as developing operation plans and strategies, day to day clinic operations, business and operational metrics, right-staffing, expense management, leases, contracting, purchasing & inventory management.
Billing & Coding - 4 hours; includes items such as activities associated with revenue cycle management, audits, coding, over the counter collections and internal cash controls.
Accounting & Finance - 6 hours; includes items such as budgeting, tracking financial performance, financial metrics, financial relationships, forecasting, professional & liability insurance, and general accounting principles.
Legal & Regulatory - 5 hours; includes items such as regulatory compliance (e.g. HIPAA, OIG,OSHA, CMS, Stark, anti-kickback), risk management, medical record management, patient consent and internal compliance plans.
Human Resources 6 hours; includes items such as recruitment, hiring, performance improvement, counseling, firing, maintaining employee files, on-boarding for success, exempt versus non-exempt status and regulations, performance management programs, staff development, benefit management and oversight, compensation & benefit strategies and culture, ADA, FMLA and discrimination.
Communications/Marketing - 4 hours; includes internal and external image and brand, clinic growth, community outreach opportunities, developing and implementing sales & marketing plans.
Electives – 5 hours (can be non-UCAOA Courses with completion certificate or letter)
Required electives for the non-clinical administrator –4 hours Clinical Considerations & Quality; includes fundamental considerations when providing laboratory services (CLIA/ COLA/ waived versus non-waived), radiology compliance, scope of care issues, accreditation versus certification of the clinic, dispensing, internal quality indicators, audit and oversight.
Test
For each course that you complete you will log into the UCAOA Online Education Library and complete a short multiple choice test to verify course completion. Tests will be avilable for lectures for up to 14 months after they are added to the Online Education Library.
Finish
Your progress will be tracked and amnaged by UCAOA. Once you've completed your 40 hours you will earn the Urgent Care Management Certificate (UCMC). You have 3 years to complete the program once your application is accepted by UCAOA.
