Peter Lamelas, MD, MBA, FACEP (right) and Sean McNeeley, MD (left) met with United States Representative Alan West (center) on June 23, 2011, to discuss the role of urgent care medicine in the nation's healthcare system. As practicing physicians and members of the Urgent Care College of Physicians (UCCOP), both doctors understand the role their daily work plays in caring for patients with urgent medical needs. Changes in healthcare in the US will require input from all those involved to improve efficiency and access to care. UCCOP and its members stand ready to help physicians, patients, and legislators understand how urgent care medicine integrates into the healthcare system now and in the future.
