Jury still out on urgent care savings
Some studies have pointed to the cost saving potential. A 2010 Health Affairs report found that up to 27 percent of ED cases could be seen in urgent care, a shift that would generate up to $4.4 billion in annual cost savings. A more recent white paper from the urgent care association estimated that the cost savings of using urgent care centers versus emergency departments could amount to as high as about $18.5 billion per year. School starts soon - Remind parents to vaccinate their kids
August is National Immunization Awareness Month. School age children, from preschoolers to college students, need vaccines. CDC has online resources and tools to help parents and doctors make sure all kids are up-to-date on recommended vaccines and protected from serious diseases. This is a great opportunity for your center to connect with current — and potential — patients.

Community bulletin boards
Many restaurants, convenience stores, health clubs, libraries and colleges/schools provide community bulletin boards upon which groups and businesses can promote their activities. Create and carry small flyers for your urgent care center as "leave behinds" for these types of displays. Discounts on school sports physicals, flu shots, cash pay visits or other promotions can be effective in capturing consumer attention, and when coupons are "coded," redemptions can be tracked.
