NERUCA Centers Calculator
The Urgent Care Association of America has partnered with the North East Regional Urgent Care Association (NERUCA) to create the first regional chapter of UCAOA.
This partnership combines UCAOA’s national strength with NERUCA’s local representation throughout:
Connecticut • Maine • Massachusetts • New Jersey
New Hampshire • New York • Rhode Island • Vermont
NERUCA was started with the premise that most regulation, legislation or payer initiatives happen at the state level or even market level. After learning of proposed regulation in the state of New York that would have severely impacted urgent care businesses, a small group of concerned urgent care owners saw the need to coalesce and advocate on behalf of urgent care centers across the state. This founding group realized the importance of local representation and how working together, they could achieve successes for the betterment of the industry.
NERUCA helps local members keep abreast of issues in the early phases when, as a group, it can and has made significant impact:
- Advocating to have the urgent care regulation language successfully removed from the New York governor’s budget in 2014–2016.
- Working with the Connecticut State Dept. of Public Health to assist in defining the practice of urgent care medicine in the State.
- Successfully lobbying to change the harmful language related to the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health restricting the practice and growth of new urgent care centers within the State.
- Partnering with the Medical Society of New Jersey on narrow network issues and proposed out-of-network legislation.
In addition to helping direct advocacy efforts, NERUCA offers high-caliber education within driving distance that focuses on distinct educational tracks for the entire urgent care team — providers, administrators, nurses, and medical assistants.
The combination of NERUCA’s local reach and impact, with UCAOA’s national presence, programs and resources creates a stronger industry for all of us.
We anticipate ongoing forces that may present as both challenges and opportunities. Either way, there is more strength in our numbers, with a more powerful voice to be heard. The Board of NERUCA looks forward to your membership and input.
