Urgent Care Statistics
In late 2007 UCAOA provided a grant to a research team out of Harvard University/Massachusetts General Hospital to conduct the first-ever national benchmarking survey.
Step one of this survey was to develop a comprehensive "sampling frame" of all the identifiable urgent care centers in the country. Over 8,000 centers were found - 1,200 of those hospital owned and the balance independent or corporately owned.
Step two of the project was to conduct the survey itself. This took place in January 2008.
Step three is the analysis and ultimately reporting of the results. Analysis is underway and final results will be available Fall 2008.
