Course Descriptions
Starting a New Urgent Care Center (10 CME)
If you are considering opening a new clinic, you know there are countless questions to be answered: What is my ideal location? How do I get a business loan? How many treatment rooms should I have? What do I need to know about coding urgent care visits? What about managed care contracts? Is occupational medicine important? What have I forgotten?
Your faculty will be from successful urgent care clinics across the country – who have been in your situation and emerged successfully on the other side. You’ll hear what they learned along the way and avoid common mistakes and pitfalls of new clinics.
As a special bonus, Clinic Startup participants will visit two urgent care centers to experience the flow of patients and see back office operations:
Friday - Physicians Immediate Care, Chicago Loop
Saturday - Central DuPage Convenient Care, Naperville
Faculty: Renee Lohman, Alan Ayers, Tracy Patterson, Patrice Pash, Cynthia Rilling, David Stern, Stacy Calvaruso, Lynne Bernard (click on faculty name for full bio)

Specialized Coding for Urgent Care (8 CME)
An advanced course in coding – just for urgent care. If you work in urgent care and already know the basics of coding, this course will help you maximize your compliance as well as your revenues.
Are you getting reimbursed for all that you can be?
- Special situation codes
- Problem based coding – what is a “new” visit?
- Procedure coding
- Physicals, evenings/weekends, emergency services and more
Most urgent care centers miss out on thousands of dollars in revenue because of coding errors or omissions. Use what you learn to capture these codes with confidence.
Continuing Education Units
This program has prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders for 8.0 Continuing Education Units. Granting of this approval in no way constitutes endorsement by the Academy of the program, content or the program sponsor.

How do you market your centers most efficiently and effectively? This NEW course, taught by a public relations expert and an experienced urgent care director, will show you how to choose strategies that will get the biggest bang for your buck and help separate you from your competition.
